    Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

    Diploma of Early childhood education and care reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. They will be able to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

    Diploma Of Early Childhood Education and Care course may be completed as a stand-a-alone qualification over a 2-year period, full-time, attending weekly theoretical classes in our modern and custom designed Parkville campus training facility.  Our holistic approach to learning is underpinned by our student work placement program where students complete 500+ hours scheduled of on-the-job mentoring at a prestigious child care centre in Melbourne.

    Learning to analyse and interpret children’s play, you will be able to enhance their learning opportunities and developmental progression. You will also discover the value of documentation as a design process creating collaborative discussion and interpretation for continued learning. You will graduate as an Early Childhood Educator that will mold the lives of future generations.

    Early Childhood Education and Care Course Outline

    The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care course may be completed as a stand-a-alone qualification over a 2 year period, full-time, attending weekly theoretical classes in our modern and custom designed Parkville campus training facility.  Our holistic approach to learning is underpinned by our student work placement program where students complete 500+ hours weekly of on-the-job mentoring at one of 6 prestigious locations around Melbourne.

    Premium Work Placement for Early Childhood Education and Care

    ZOI Education has created an innovative learning program offering best practice applied learning opportunities across all courses. In addition, we have partnered with Melbourne’s premier early childhood education & care services centres to supply each ZOI student with a pre-arranged work experience placement. Scheduled work placement training combined with our quality classroom based theoretical learning from our passionate trainers will ensure students excel.

    All ZOI students undertaking a Certificate III or a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care must complete a minimum number of hours of mandatory practical work experience within early childhood education & care services centres to fulfil their qualification requirements.

    What Can I Do Upon Graduation? | Early Childhood Education and Care

    After graduation from the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care at ZOI Education you will be qualified to work as the following:

    In addition, upon completion of the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care you may decide to move onto Higher Education and complete a Bachelor of Education (Early Years or Primary)

    Early Learning Placement

    APPLIED LEARNING & MENTORING

    ZOI Education has established formal relationships with selected Early Childhood Education & Care (ECEC) Services within the Melbourne and Metropolitan areas, enabling students to attend their Work Placement across a variety of ECEC Services.

    In its selection process, ZOI selects high quality ECEC Services, which are close to public transport routes to enable easy access for the student.

    Furthermore, ZOI endeavours to place students to ECEC Services that are approximately within 1 hour from the CBD or their place of residence. ZOI however cannot guarantee a specific location for any student, due to other Work Placement allocation factors that are beyond ZOI's control.

    The location map and list of Melbourne suburbs below depicts the approximate locations where students are currently undertaking their Work Placement today. This list is always growing as and is not a final list.

    Graduate Study Pathways | After Completing the Course of Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

    Credit Transfers & Higher Education

    Students who complete the Certificate III In Early Childhood Education And Care may go onto enrol into the CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. Students who enrol into the Diploma after completing the Certificate III with ZOI Education will receive 18 unit credits into the Diploma. Alternatively, students may enrol directly into the Diploma without completing the Certificate III.

    Students may also go on to study other related higher level qualifications such as:

    • CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services
    • A Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Care (or similar e.g. Community Services)

     

    About Certificate III In Early Childhood Education And Care

    The course of Certificate III In Early Childhood Education And Care enables you to plan and implement appropriate care and educational experiences for young children. The qulified training of Certificate III In Early Childhood Education And Care will provide you the necessary skills and knowledge to work effectively as a professional in an early child care organization, these knowledge and experience include:

    Entry Requirements

    This course does not have training package defined entry requirements, however ZOI Education requires that students:

    1.  Are at least 18 years’ old when the course is due to start *

    2.  Have a valid student visa (subclass 500), more information about this visa is here: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/500-

    3.  Have completed and passed a minimum Year 12 (or equivalent)

    4.  Have a suitable level of digital literacy skills (demonstrated by undertaking the free online test here: http://www.digitalliteracy.eu a minimum score of 60% is required

    5.  Are able to demonstrate a level of language, learning and numeracy skills suitable to this course (test to be administered by ZOI          Education which includes written assessment and Skype interview)

    6.  Are able to provide evidence of an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent [1] (test results must be no more than 2 years old) OR be able to provide any of the following evidence of English Language competence:

               • that they were educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country.

               • that they have successfully completed the College English Placement Test.

               • that they have successfully completed their Year 12 or equivalent in English Language.

    7.  Meet these additional requirements to ensure they are able to work in an early learning centre:

               • Have held some type of employment e.g. part-time, full-time or casual for a minimum of 6 months.

               • Have a current working with children check (WWCC)
